I love Mad Mex. My heart is still beating for that dance marathon burrito. So I ordered the enchilada. Oops. I forgot which one I liked more. No worries, it was still delicious smothered in cheese and paired with rice and refried beans. I honestly thought this location was closed because they have burlap covering all the doors and windows. The only thing that tipped me off that they were open was the glowing beer signs. Then the door opened and I knew we were all good!

I decided to have lunch during the week here. I sat at the bar, good service, and fast drinks. I got a lunch special, which was a awesome deal. The only thing was the guacamole I got was a bit too salty for me. But perhaps it was just that batch. I would definitely come back. Yummy.

Once in a while I will stop here, ok, I have been here 3 times total. This time I ordered the enchilada with flank steak, colorado sauce. No sour cream. When I got my order, there it was sour cream. I avoided the sour cream, and ate the rest of the food. It was ok, at least it was hot. I have started to eat more Mexican food throughout the U.S. And I feel this is just some Tex Mex and a bad example at that. They have a ok beer selection, but, I drank water this time. This place is just OK

Mad Mex is great because they are consistent across all of their locations. Casual, edgy atmosphere, nice staff, great food, bomb margaritas. It is always borderline too loud, but depending on the vibe you're going for that can be OK. Cali salad is my go-to with balsamic dressing. Delilah!

We came in with a party of 10 on NYE, how rude of us! :( But our waitress couldn't have been nicer, she never seemed annoyed! I ordered their sangria/margarita mix and it was sooooo good! They had a special so I got the biggest option for $7! For dinner I got their CARNITAS QUESADILLA and it was pretty amazing for such a small dish. The flavors worked so well together it was kind of crazy. :) All in all this was one of the best experciences at a Mad Mex that I've had!!

Mad Mex usually isn't anything special in the food category but it really is a fun place to go to with a group of friends. And I've yet to have a Margarita I didn't like! And the fish tacos are really good!

I always enjoy my food at Mad Mex. They have their own spin on tex-mex and quite tasty. I love there wing sauce, especially the San Fran. If you like beer they have plenty of choices available daily. Great happy hour prices and lunch specials. The service can be slow at times, so usually site at the patio bar.

great venue. i wish i had one of these near home. some of the best mexican food i've ever had. not your typical burrito. beer list is fantastic, ~25 brews on tap. i will return simply for the beer. happy hour M-F 5p-7p (half-price drafts, big azz margaritas $7). big azz margaritas $7 also from 10pm to midnight. service was great, even during happy hour. i will definitely return. i may even attempt a visit each time i come back to cranberry.

I absolutely love going to the Mad Mex in Monroeville and was excited about trying this Mad Mex for lunch today. Per usual, the food was very tasty. My black bean quesadilla and side salad hit the spot. Though the restaurant was pretty quiet, our waitress seemed to be too busy to help us. She took our drink order and practically ran away as we were trying to ask her additional questions. We also didn't receive lunch menus and had to ask for them. It was just frustrating to feel like we were inconveniencing her by dining at the restaurant. Also note that parking is a little crazy here. We were looking for a space around 12:45/1:00 in the afternoon and drove around about 5x before getting one.

1st time at this Mad Mex. Of course, I ordered the same thing as always and, that would be the Grilled Fish Tacos. They are Awesome here. There are a few variations between the MadMex restaurants but, this one stays true to the known and consistent fish taco recipe which is WONDERFUL. The staff here was super friendly, attentive and they were all smiles. Like that :) Of course I ordered an extra fish taco entree to take home..... hello breakfast :) Oh and today, I got a MadMex T-Shirt !!! I'm so excited !!! Do you think it would be weird to wear a MadMex T-shirt to MadMex ??? Can you tell I am a fan of MadMex. However; as I have said in previous posts, I have never eaten anything here but the grilled fish soft taco. It is the 1st thing I ordered and it was perfection. I have never felt the need to deviate from the awesomeness that is this entree. Sometimes things are just that perfect !!

I've been here twice, once for lunch and once for dinner. Dinner was better but lunch was not a good experience. I ordered chicken fajitas and they came out undercooked. The cook told me it was cooked and the light reflecting off the meat made it look like it wasn't done. I know what uncooked chicken looks like. My sisters fajitas were burnt to a crisp. Also, the kids meals come with a brownie and ice cream. At dinner the brownie was warmed up; my sister said it always is warm. At lunch they pulled it out of the fridge and served it. It was nearly frozen inside. Waitress wasn't polite when we complained either. First time I went it was good so I am giving it 3 stars, but I don't care if I go back.

Great vegan & vegetarian options, and this location has really great staff - super helpful, friendly, and very accommodating. Not the best food in the world, but it's good, big portions, and the special diet options make it worthwhile!

Good luck trying to get a drink at the bar here. It also gets incredibly loud at night. Average food. Nothing special.

This is suprisingly good, healthy tex mex in the burgh's burbs. The burrito was good and had some kick to it along with the tacos. Solid chips and salsa.

Whenever I am looking to kick back, relax and enjoy a beverage or two, Mad Mex is the place for me. Great micro brew draft selections or a legendary Margarita...They have great wings and no doubt the best blue cheese dressing on the planet. The service is always great and friendly. My only complaint is the burritos have gone downhill, they are stuffing them all with beans and rice, really cut down on the protein you choose. Hey I know food cost have gone up but don't short change your product.

We have found our new Mad Mex home in Cranberry. What an amazing election day thus far . . . The Gobblerito IS an excellent dish. The burrito is stuffed with turkey, mashed potatoes, stuffing, corn and smothered in gravy. Cranberry sauce on the side taboot! I was amazed at how well this was prepared and how good it tasted. WOW! Definitely a delicious warmup for Thanksgiving. Another note of excellence today was the gracious General Manager. Good guy with a great work ethic and warm personality. Thank you, Paul! My usual mexi-feast is a self-concocted burrito with black beans, chickpea chili, spicy spinach, pineapple, cheese and rice. YUM! My husband always enjoys a BigAzz Strawberry Margarita and a Chicken Chimichanga. Our kids get to choose from MMex's fun menu with lots of side choices aside from the fried norms of chicken nuggets and fries. Kid meals include veggie sticks w/ranch, entree w/sides, brownie sundae and a drink for $5. Good deal! If you order the grilled chicken and your kids don't like it seasoned, you may want to mention for it to be grilled without the blackening. Another key ingredient to my fantastic experience today was the 12 oz Brooklyn Black Chocolate Stout. This seasonal brew is one of the first stouts I truly loved and that it's on tap and being served in the smaller sibling to the pint was a welcome addition to my lunch. Their draft beer selection is great and even included local East End Brewing Company's Fat Gary Nut Brown Ale. Go Pittsburgh! The ambiance is warm, open and as funky as the rest. Get your night goggles on when heading to the restrooms, we could barely see in the hallway and in the loo. Hit up this Mad Mex for a great dining experience for everyone. Peace.

Can we say "glorified Taco Bell!" After living in Texas, this isn't good Tex Mex food! Tastes like already prepared food...not from scratch! Will not go back!

Finally, Mad Mex has come to Cranberry! For only being open just a couple days, the staff has been well trained, business was brisk and the patio seats were full. Nice, fun atmosphere inside. The food is good, the menu is very vegetarian friendly. We sampled the pineapple-habanero salsa. Great flavor, but man, is this stuff HOT. I had the margarita chicken tacos, served with sweet-n-sour slaw, Mexican rice and black beans. Yummy. They were super good, I loved the pico de gallo and cilantro. My friend had the veggie burrito with guacamole. Great margaritas! No room for dessert. Our only compliant was the music. It was so stinking loud, we had to lean over the table and basically lip read and do sign language. Fun to do, if you are on a date. Sucks if you are trying in have an informative conversation. Next time, we will wait for the patio. With traffic and all, it can't be half as loud outside.

Very enjoyable place to take friends and enjoy an evening. They have a great happy hour and their drafts are good with plenty to choose from.the burritos are good and the salads are huge. The have an indoor/outdoor bar with a variety of seating. This place comes with a strong recommendation.

Mad Mex is such a cool place, especially for a suburb. If you are ever around in November, get the gobblerito! Otherwise, you can't go wrong with any of their massive burritos. My only complaint is that you don't get chips and salsa on your table (they are available as a paid app) and the guac is pricey.

  • Rema R.

Wow what a beer list ... and the happy hour - you can't beat it! I've been by for quite a few Friday HH's and have yet to leave after happy hour is over. ;-) The bar staff is very happy to help you find a beer that you enjoy or just taste a few to see if there is something that you didn't know you would like. They have great salsa, it's pretty spicy, which I enjoy and the boneless wings are interesting, but delish!

I have been a long standing customer of Mad Mex over the years, at least for 20 years, starting with the first in Oakland. I had a very bad experience at MM Cranberry last weekend. It was happy hour, and when we had 1/2 our drink left, we tried to order a second, and the waiteress said that we could not have another until our drink was completely gone!! What were we supposed to do, chug it? We complained, and a manager was sent over, then a second, and they informed us this was their policy. It turned into a bid to do - all for a lousy happy hour drink. I have been going to MM for 20 years, and never once did I experience this before. We ended up getting our drinks comped, but buy then, our mood was spoiled and we left to have dinner at another resteraunt. It will be a VERY long time before I go back to this MM again!!

After hearing about how fabulous the margaritas are here for so long, we decided to stop in for lunch today. I ordered a mango margarita and my bf the strawberry - these were the worst margaritas we've ever had. The menu said they were "tart and fruity," but these were over the top tart, as if there was too much lime juice or something. We asked for some sugar packets and the waitress was very friendly and offered to add simple syrup and reshake, which we appreciated, but they were still super tart. The only way we could drink without puckering is after the ice melted quite a bit - we still couldn't finish them. Maybe it was a bad batch???? I ordered a mad mex burrito with taco meat, planning to eat half for lunch and have leftovers. The burrito was different in presentation than other burritos I typically order - rather than cooked ingredients in a fresh tortilla, this might have been stuffed then cooked somehow IN the tortilla - it was a little greasy to the touch as if it'd been in oil. Then again, it could have been all of the liquid from the black beans - it was as if they dumped black beans right from a can, there was that much black liquid oozing onto my plate. My bf commented that it was a good thing I love black beans because this thing was stuffed with them with barely any meat. It was just so-so since I was basically eating black beans with a tiny bit of rice and meat and a soggy tortilla. The guacamole was decent, but was already a bit brown when it got to the table, so I'm not sure it was worth the $1.50 add on. I ended up eating the other half for dinner, cooking it in a skillet to crisp up the tortilla and adding some sour cream, tomato and lettuce (my meal didn't come with any of those toppings???)..... and what do you know, the other half was ALL meat and like 10 black beans. My bf got the wings with wild sauce and commented on how good the blue cheese was - but also noted that they seemed a bit undercooked. He then got a steak and shrimp burrito to go for dinner. The half he ate was seriously lacking in meat, but if it's anything like mine, he will probably get all of it in the other half.

Very nice beer selection. That's all I can say in praise of this place. I was basically ignored at the bar for two hours. Not that I was looking for a conversation, but for a bartender to make a food or beer recommendation or to take my order. I flagged down one of the bartenders and asked for a recommendation and got chicken tacos and a blank stare. I said I like spicy food and was suggested carnitas enchiladas, a reiteration of chicken tacos (though they aren't spicy) and another blank stare. The bartender never came back to take my order, though. I had to get her attention, which probably happened 25 minutes after I asked for a recommendation (which was about 1.5 hours after I sat down). The bar area was not very busy, either. Was I asked how my order was? Nope. Never. Not even when she took my plate away. I would have said my steak burrito was way more of a rice and beans burrito than a steak burrito. It was spicy though, so there is that. I have not been that frustrated sitting at a bar in quite some time, if ever. Mostly, the bartenders earned the lack of stars, though the food did not impress. Again, the beer list was great. I left quite irritated.

Great Big Azz margaritas combined with a solid craft draft beer list. Add some chips and guacamole and you are off to a good start. Have tried a number of items and not been disappointed yet. The fish tacos are definitely my go to.

This is the second time I went and again disappointed. This time I tried thai burrito. Worst burrito I ever had. Pico was way too dry and no good. The next time I will go to mad mex is only when the whole group is going. Not my first choice at all. Sorry, but I didnt liked it!

Service was very good, don't get me wrong here with my bad review. I'm a huge mad mex fan. I have many a found memory at mad mex late night half off on Pitt's campus. I've eaten at all of the mad mex locations in the Pittsburgh area. This is by far the worst one. The food was just plain funky, and wasn't on any level of any mad mex in the burgh. Take my advice avoid this location. For the best mad mex experience check out the Oakland location - or really anyone except this one.

Food is good, margaritas are great but overprised. Fun place for dinner or at the sit bar for quick bite. Warning the bartenders are overloaded with no help, so takes a while to get a drink unless your a 'favorite' of the bartender. Please get more help at the bar. I wish I could give a seperate one star for bar service..

I love Mad Mex in spite of myself. When I choose a restaurant for ethnic food, I generally prefer smaller, family owned holes in the wall that impart authenticity into their menu, but Mad Mex hits all the points for taste, value, and fun. I stop here every time I visit Pittsburgh and have never been disappointed. I love their creative burritos and selection of margaritas. The servers are great, and reflect the humor and lightheartedness of the menu. Definitely my favorite Mexican chain restaurant bar none.

They messed up our drinks and appetizers. Salsas weren't great. Service was bad. A disappointing experience. I used to love mad Mex but apparently they've gone down hill. Or at least this location

Going outside of my shell and ordering something besides the chickpea chili burrito... Ordered the super mad mex enchilada with grilled chicken... Served with black beans and rice... So delicious... It has the chickpea chili in the enchilada and is very delicious. The meal is huge. Good blend of spices... Cooled down perfectly with sour cream and guac.

Beer list is on point and the happy hour is one of the best around. That said, I always ordered mex dishes there and never the wings because I assumed its like ordering Pizza from a chinese place, right? Seriously, those might be some of the best wings that I've ever had. And the southwest blue cheese dressing is super chunky and delicious. Who knew that a mexican place would be where my favorite wings would come from? Well played Mad Mex, well played...

Another great night at Mad Mex in Cranberry! Our waiter was Matt and he was fantastic. Our 4 some gets together only occasionally. He gave us prompt, efficient service, but also saw that we wanted to relax, take our time and visit. We never felt rushed or ignored. THANKS MATT! Also, his knowledge of the menu, especially the happy hour specials was so appreciated. Our dinners, wonderful. I love the Chopper Chicken salad and the Lime Cilantro dressing is to die for! My group loved their Mai Mai salad, Taco Salad and Wingo Wrap. We all left happy. Thanks also to manager Jess who stopped by to make sure all was all good. We will again make this Mad Mex our "place" to meet, eat and catch up.

Good food, drinks are fresh and tasty. I had the mad mex spicy burrito. It's a different twist the waitress called it "cali' mex...never heard that before learn something new everyday. I would go back for sure. The noise level is a bit loud for a restaurant, but given the variance in age ranges at this place it should be noted but not much of a concern. Top shelf margaritas are fresh squeezed lime, but they don't have any agave honey so order some simple syrup with the pure lime juice and it will hit the spot. Get your California on yo! In Pittsburgh

Try the Los Wingos Wrap. I had the one with the San Francisco sauce. Nice balance of flavors with a nice spice kick to it. Fresh Guacamole with Chips for a starter is good. Nice location with ample parking. Great staff. Will come back again.

Great food and happy hour specials! Try the margaritas, but watch out because the big azz ones are HUGE! The wingo-rito and wingo-wrap are my favorite except for the Goblorito which is only available around thanksgiving time. The globlorito is a thanksgiving dinner in a burrito and it's to die for!

I was in Butler for a zombie 5K race, a fellow zombie had some friends in the area, and they invited us to join them at Mad Mex for dinner. Having never heard of this particular chain before, I wasn't sure what to expect, but was pleasantly surprised. They had a very interesting beer list, with my friend and I (zombies that we are) ordering one called a "Double Dead Guy"......just be warned, it's not for the faint of heart! The fish tacos were delicious (get the fried fish, not grilled), and the wings were pretty good (never had wings in a Mexican restaurant before, but hey! Roll with it!). They had a very unique sauce for the wings, a combo of bleu cheese and chipotle, but very tasty. We were seated out on the patio, and it was nearing the end of happy hour on a Friday so it was a little busy, but our server wasn't as attentive as I would have liked, but overall she did alright. This is located in a strip mall, so parking isn't too bad, although it appears to be a pretty popular place.

Exactly what you'd expect of a Mexican chain spot. Go with friends while you have a sitter, order margaritas, sit at the bar, get apps.

We stopped here on a Wednesday night around 5. This place was dead. No wait. This is nice considering anytime I drive past this place on the weekends it is packed with customers. The staff was nice. We were seated quickly and our waitress was awesome. She never asked if we wanted another refill she just did her job and kept the glasses full. The menu has a ton of stuff to pick from. I got the buritta fajita which was good. There was a little spice to it and you could choose what type of filling you wanted inside of it. I opted for the steak which was a bit chewy. Luckily my fiancee ate the chewy steak for me. Most of the dishes are under 10 dollars. They have a nice portion of vegetarian dishes. On the menu you will find a ton of substitutions for you people that love different options. I cant imagine anyone being picky with all of the options on the menu. They have happy hour here where you can get decent prices on margaritas (3 dollars for a 12 oz!!!).

I had the fish tacos, which were more like "salt tacos." I've had other meals at another Mad Mex, but this food was horrible. The problem is that Mad Mex seems more like a bar than a restaurant. The food seems to encourage drinking -- to get rid of the salt. The service was great, the atmosphere was nice, but food is everything to me.

I dined at this restaurant for an early lunch last week. Before heading over to the restaurant I checked out their hours which stated that they opened at 11:00. Whenever I arrived at 11:15 the restaurant was completely empty and I sat at the bar for at least 5 minutes before anyone came out of the back to let me know that someone would be with me shortly. Since I was not in a hurry it was not a big deal but I still found it odd. While I was waiting I had more than enough time to check out the restaurant which was decorated with the normal Mad Mex items. What struck me was how small this one was when compared to the many others that I had been at. For lunch I ordered the Wing-O-Rito burrito with insane buffalo sauce. True to form it was incredibly spicy with good portions of chicken, rice and beans and came with a side of salsa. I enjoyed it quite a bit as I always do. The bottom line for me is that the food was good and I would come back again. I would hope that in the future I would not have to wait as long to get greeted though.

  • Josh W.

Food is disappointing and overpriced. The exceptions are the goblorito (thanksgiving dinner in a burrito), which is seasonal but amazing, and their wings. Service is spotty at best. The only real reason to come here is the happy hour. They have a large selection of micro brews which are half off. Avoid shots!!! $12 for common mixed shots. They use the old sneaky trick of charging you for a full can of red bull and each liquor for each shot. Cleanliness is questionable.

Mad Mex is a truly great destination for dinner and a drink (or three - their margaritas and drink specials are fantastic). A little bit off the wall, Mad Mex locations are a great hangout for those looking for something delicious and off the beaten path. Management and waiters are always friendly, they have a great selection of drinks, a strong menu, and a pretty awesome atmosphere. Seating and service have always been impressively quick here in the Cranberry location. The one time an order was wrong (very small detail) it was returned personally by the manager and never showed up on the bill. It's a great place for moderately priced, delicious casual dining around the 'Burgh and beyond. A word to those looking for more traditional Tex-Mex from a Mexican joint - what you'll find here is its trippy cousin who ran off to the big city and returned better for it.

The Cranberry Mad Mex earns each of those 3 stars as a really good watering hole. The large beer selection, margaritas, bar atmosphere, happy hour specials & service are typically great. Unfortunately, it's also a restaurant. I attended a lot of work lunches & dinners in this bar over the years and legitimately tried to find something yummy on their menu. All I've ever gotten are giant overstuffed burritos of one sort or another with mediocre tasting ingredients inside or unmemorable soups, appetizers & wings. The fish tacos, in my opinion, may be the only passable item on the menu. Guess I'll just keep drinking.

We were meeting friends at this restaurant for a nice supper. We had to be seated three times because the one table was dirty, the second was right next to a window and the blind was broken and we were going to bake in the hot sun. As it turned out, we were seated several tables away so three people on the one side of our table couldn't see the rest of us because of the bright glare of the sun ... Our server was not very prompt with anything ... except delivering our entrees within three minutes of an entire table of appetizers so space was at a premium and we weren't able to enjoy our appetizers while they were still hot. Another reviewer mentioned questionable cleanliness and I have to agree with this assessment. What really prompted me to write this review was that I took the time to fill out one of their comment cards and haven't heard back in more than a month apologizing for my experience or, at a minimum, thanking me for my comments. The food wasn't bad nor was it all that good. One person got a gigantic margarita and said it was good; it certainly looked delicious. Our overall concerns were it was way too hot to be comfortable, one-third of our party was blind from the sun, the service blew (attentiveness to our party) and the timing of our service sucked.

Reliably great! I've been going to Mad Mex restaurants for years: Robinson, Scott Twp, and now Cranberry Twp. The chips and salsa are sooooo good. We usually get the Pickadippa and choose salsa, queso, and guac. The beer selection is amazing, the bartenders are always friendly and super helpful, the margaritas are delicious (ok not as good as my best friend Jamie's, which have hand-squeezed limes, etc, and tons of tequila, but no one's are as good as hers), the chicken chimichanga is a guilty pleasure but I usually get the dance marathon burrito--the grilled portobellos are out of this world and the marinated chicken delicious. The service is great too--yes, I mean you Allison! You're awesome!

One of the most overrated chains in all of Pittsburgh. The "Mexican" food here is always of poor quality and is completely overpriced. There are so many other authentic Mexican places all across the area, why go to Mad Mex when you can get better food for a lot less money?

  • Michaela B.

I ordered a bare-ito with grilled vegetables. The mushrooms were fantastic, really meaty and not too chewy. If I didn't know any better I would thing it were steak. The pico de gallo had too much cilantro for my taste. Also it was not very spicy, which my mild taste buds appreciated. While the beans and rice were not in and of themselves memorable, the dish was certainly tasty and I would order it again.

Always an up experience..... Regardless of the location. Great draft beer selection, and it rotates. (Thank you!) Good vibes with mix of music and tvs. Almost always bartenders are knowledgeable. Chips and salsa: yum. Value for your money: good. During happy hour: can't be beat.

My brother and I roll in on a Wednesday night for a drink or two and decided on the chicken nachos grande. Truth is the food has been hit or miss over the years but the atmosphere and decor have always been a big plus. I would order the nachos again. I have had some pretty bomb wings there in the past, but their is and has always been room for improvement. The soundtrack has always been progressive and well thought out. Going there this evening I expected some Beck and a little talking Heads but instead we got throw back 1980s Prince with a touch of soul. That alone will keep us coming back! Only the cure and meat and potatoes crowd downtown have comparable soundtracks!

Since the Shady Side location was awful, we should have known better than to have tried the Cranberry location. This has to be the absolute worse excuse for food on the planet. I took two bites and sent it back! The sauce has a tin can taste and the chips were stale and lifeless. The enchilada was smothered in the worst cheese imaginable and something was inside that resembled meat but tasted like Alpo. First time eating here and was AMAZED!!! Nicole was our server and she was absolutely amazing!!! She acted like she's been there forever but was in her first week and she blew our minds!!! She was so professional and had great recommendations!! The food was absolutely delicious and so much of it!! The only problem was we were sitting in the outdoor part which is still enclosed but it's definitely chilly in the evening but everything else was so awesome that I'm still giving it 5 stars!!!

Kay's brother had a birthday yesterday and unfortunately had no dinner plans on an evening that was cold, clammy like the hands of a graverobber. Kay cooooed softly into my recovering ear "Daarrrenn, could we do something for my brother?" How could I say no? RJ, a trained chef, has a hankering for Mexican food, so when I suggested Mad Mex, RJ eagerly, easily approved. We decided to hit the Cranberry location since it had yet to be reviewed by us. I really wanted guacamole. Call it a craving. However, they already gave us plenty of their excellent chips and salsa. What to do? I got the guac on something else for a buck extra; The Mad Mex Quesadilla, which I had with steak. As quesadillas go, this was a capable mille-feuille of protein, grilled peppers, grilled onions, and Monterey Jack cheese. The steak wasn't gummy or tough, its flavors only augmented by the vegetables, and the soft, flour tortillas and cheese framed the affair. Kay couldn't finish her Mahi Mahi Salad, so I stepped in as the dues ex machina at Act 4 to rescue her, and what a fiesta it was with a guestlist that included chickpeas, jícama, roasted corn, sliced avocado, cherry tomatoes, peppers, toasted pepitas, assorted greens...chipotle aioli! The luscious Mahi Mahi acted as the belle of the ball! I came very close to ordering it myself, but thankfully Kay let me finish off this tangy, leafy bowl of Mexi-Cali (hipster-mex?) celebration. RJ seemed to like his Nacho Momma's Taco Platter and Ice Cream Burrrrito, which came complete with a candle but (luckily for his sake) no singing servers. I think the next time I hit a Mad Mex, I'm just getting some guac and chips, and that's gonna be soon for my hunger for the mashed avocado has yet to be sated. And I still don't give a flea about authenticity.

This was a bit of an up and down experience. Let's start with the drink list. I love it. They have a large list of draft beers and margaritas. The two most important things when eating Tex-mex. I went with the featured margarita which was orange pineapple. I really enjoyed it and it was strong. I also really like their guacamole. It is craving worthy. I do have to say I have issue paying for chips and salsa maybe it's because where I grew up it was served at every Mexican restaurant in town and not one that I have ever been to charged for chips and salsa. For my entree I went with the Mahi Mahi tacos. While the fish was cooked perfectly I did find it a bit bland. I added a squeeze of lime and it helped a bit but I feel I shouldn't have to add anything. The rice and beans were ok nothing to write home about. I also need to mention I had a piece of steak out of my boys steak burrito and while tasty it was over cooked a bit. Last but not least I have to mention the service. I found it incredibly slow. Drinks took too long which could have been the bartender. There are aspect to this place that I really like but as a whole I wish it would have lived up to my expectations a bit more.

Mexican Cuisine

If you enjoy Taco Tuesday, then you have officially fallen in love with the Mexican Food. The main grain of Mexican cuisine is maize. Also known as corn, maize is grown for the past 9000 years after the crop was discovered by the people in Mayan civilization. Mexican empire flourished when they started growing beans, tomatoes, chili pepper, sweet potato and cactus. Till this date these ingredients are used in cooking authentic Mexican dishes and drinks.

Great use of spices, fresh chili pepper dishes like fajitas, tortilla chips, corn chips, salsa, chimichangas, burritos, nachos and quesadillas are invented in America. But when you are looking for authentic Mexican food then you must find a restaurant in the city that serves Rajas con Queso, Garbanzo in a Guajillo Chile Sauce, Pork Filled Chiles Rellenos, Chiles en Nogada, Molcajete Salsa, Pico de Gallo and Frijoles de la Olla. An eye-opening fact – Mexican don't like their food hot. They use fresh chili and other spices to create a flavor that lingers in your mouth.

Mexican food is great for those who are Gluten Intolerant as they use Corn instead of wheat in most of their dishes. Also, you can easily find many beans based Mexican dishes. Another dish which didn't get similar glory as tacos or nachos is the Mexican hot chocolate. If you love something hot on a chilly day, then go for Mexican Hot Chocolate. On merry days, you can enjoy the authentic Mexican Drinks like Tequila, Mezcal, Tecuí, Sotol, Bacanora, Charanda, Posh O Pox, Puebla and Pulque.
